St. Charles, St. Peters Fix Water Line Break

Boil order is expected to be lifted Monday.

A boil order and water conservation remain in effect in St. Charles and St. Peters today and officials expect it to continue until sometime Monday.

St. Charles and St. Peters crews fixed a large break in the secondary water supply line from St. Louis, which broke on Friday.

Now the cities are testing the water for bacteria and working to build water supplies up to normal. The boil order and water conservation order are in effect until the water is safe for consumption, according to a news release.

Customers of Missouri American Water are not impacted by the situation.

St. Charles and Francis Howell Schools that are in the affected area will be having class on Monday.

St. Charles School District Superintendent Jeff Marion said class would be in session. The district plans to make sure students don't use water fountains and will provide water free of charge to students and staff. Students can also bring bottled water to school. The food service will make meals that don't require use of water for preparation.

Francis Howell North, Henderson Elementary, Francis Howell Early Childhood Center at Hackman Road and Harvest Ridge Elementary Schools in the Francis Howell School District are impacted by the boil order. According to a Facebook post on the district's page, lunch may be different than what is posted on the lunch menu.
