South Main Street to Close to Thru Traffic Aug. 20 for Construction

South Main Street will close between Boone's Lick and Barbour Street.

South Main Street will be closed to thru traffic starting Aug. 20.

On Monday and Tuesday, city's contractor R.V. Wagner will close the Reservoir intersection for removal of the old abandoned water main and excavation. On Aug. 22 and 23, the contractor will excavate and place roadway base rock on the street.

The contractor will use existing brick pavers which will be cleaned and relaid on a new base by hand. It will take contractors about 15 days to lay brick between Boone's Lick and Barbour Street on South Main.
