School Board Filing Deadline is Tuesday

Three have filed to run for two seats on St. Charles Board of Education.

Three people have filed to run for the two school board seats up for election April 3 in the St. Charles School District.

The deadline to file for local Boards of Education is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Voters will elect school board members to serve three-year terms.

In the St. Charles School District, the candidates include:

  • Current board member Wayne Oetting
  • Current board member Tim Bekebrede
  • Marita Malone, assistant professor of criminal justice and security at St. Louis University.

In the Francis Howell School District, four candidates filed to run for two open seats on the board on Dec. 13. The candidates include:

  • Current board vice president Stephen Johnson
  • Current board member Marty Hodits
  • Eric Seider, who previously ran for the board
  • Marie Haupt, retired teacher

In the Orchard Farm School District, incumbent Fred Semke and newcomer Kevin Garcia have filed. Incumbent Nancy Goeke had not yet filed as of Friday, according to Superintendent Dan Dozier.

The basic qualifications for becoming a school board member include being a U.S. citizen, a Missouri resident for at least a year before the election, a resident taxpayer of the district, and at least 24 years of age.
