St. Charles Preschoolers Get Up-Close Look at Snow Plows, Street Sweepers and Concrete Trucks

400 children will attend the city's tenth annual Public Works Day on Friday, May 10.

What kid wouldn't want to sit in the driver's seat of a streep sweeper, put their handprints in wet concrete and paint on a snow plow?

On Friday, May 10, about 400 kids will get that chance.

The 10th Annual St. Charles Public Works Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Charles Soccer Complex Park, 3801 Mueller Road, off Elm Point Industrial Drive, gives preschoolers the chance to learn all about the public works department and the services it performs for the city.

On hand will be Public Works mascot Bear A. Cade and public works employees who will demonstrate various equipment and operational processes.

A wide range of city equipment will be on display, including a wheel loader, sewer televising truck and street sweepers, and students will be able see how it feels to sit in the driver’s seat. Kids can collect trading cards for equipment onsite and have their pictures taken.
