Passport to St. Charles County Parks: Bangert Island

 The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department will host the second “Passport” program, weather permitting, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Bangert Island. Nick Dziuba, from our Natural Resource division and Ranger John Bugh will lead the walk and discussion on big river ecosystems.

Please bring appropriate footwear as the trail may be a little muddy.

Remember, to bring your passport to be stamped before the walk. First time participants are welcome, too. You must attend four passport programs to receive your prize.

In the event of inclement weather or rising water levels the program may need to be cancelled. Please call the parks department hotline number at 636-949-7475 and follow the prompts to programs and events (#2) to get the status of the event. The hotline will be updated by 8 a.m. on the day of the event.

To get to Bangert Island, take I-70 to the Fifth Street south exit. As you go south on Fifth Street, it will turn into South River Road. Go past the light at South Main Street, and then turn left onto Old South River Road. You will see the entrance to the park on your immediate right just across the Katy Trail. You can park along Old South River Road.
