City Could Save $2,000 Per Month With New Fiber Optic Cables
The St. Charles City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Installing fiber optic cables from the St. Charles Criminal Justice Center to Fire Station No. 1 and St. Charles City Hall could potentially save the city tens of thousands of dollars per year if approved by the city council tonight.

Among other agenda items, council members will vote on a contract between the city and TGB, Inc., to install three-miles of fiber optic cables

Now, the city makes monthly payments to Charter Communications for a fiber connection, which gives all users in City Hall access to servers that host applications, files and more.
The contract is expected to cost the city $188,483.

Lions Club's Farmers Market
The council is also expected to introduce a bill that would approve the annual Lion's Club Farmers Market.
The St. Charles Lions Club has organized the market for many years. Gerry Shatro collects $10 from each vendor each week.
In the past, vendors have included people selling fruits, vegetables, plants, jams, jellies, breads, pastries and crafts.
