Witness Spots Man Breaking Into Cars in St. Charles, Police Say

A man faces criminal charges after a St. Charles resident spotted him breaking into cars Friday in the 1700 block of Waterfall Drive.

Travis Patterson, 24, of the 1100 block of Country Club Road in St. Charles, was charged Friday with theft of a credit card, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.

St. Charles Police said officers responding to the call found Patterson still in the 1500 block of Hollowbrook Drive in St. Charles. Police said Patterson had three stolen credit cards in his pocket along with a small flashlight.

As he was being arrested, Patterson turned, pushed the officer and ran away. He was caught after a short chase.

A resident said the credit cards were in his unlocked car parking in his driveway.

Patterson denied stealing the cards. According to a court document, Patterson told police he had already been to prison and would not “tell on himself.”

Patterson is being held in the St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $2,500, cash only.
