Two Charged With Breaking into Home While Owners Slept

Mychael Hutsell and Christian King were charged with first-degree burglary.

Two men who allegedly broke into a home while the owner was asleep on Sunday were charged Tuesday with burglary in the first degree. 

Mychael W. Hutsell, 21, of the 1100 block of Caulks Hill Rd. in St. Charles County and Christian M. King, 23, of the 2700 block of Linden Place in St. Charles County broke into a home early Feb. 12 and stole a laptop and a purse that were on a countertop said Lt. David Senter, public information officer for the , in a press release. 

Hutsell and King were charged with burglary in the first degree and stealing a letter of credit, both felonies. Bond for each was set at $20,000, cash only.

Senter said in the press release that police are investigating to see if Hutsell or King are responsible for other incidents in St. Charles. There is a recent trends in burglaries at occupied residences. 

Senter reminded residents to take personal security seriously.

"Keep doors and windows locked even when you are at home and before going to bed at night, make sure garage doors are closed and that your vehicle is secured regardless of whether it is parked inside or outside," he said in the press release.
