UPDATED: Traffic Stop Leads to Police Chase through St. Charles Neighborhoods

Two arrested following man hunt involving helicopter.

A routine traffic stop turned into a police chase and manhunt through several St. Charles neighborhoods Wednesday night. 

Police arrested Travis McClure, 21, of the 1100 block of Colby Court in St. Peters, after a vehicle pursuit, according to a press release. 

A  officer stopped McClure around 7 p.m. in a routine traffic stop. McClure gave the name of a suspect who was wanted for an armed robbery in 2011.

Police called for back up and the driver took off, leading police on a chase through a residential neighborhoods including the Greenfield subdivision off of Country Club Road.

The driver ran into a court, which was a dead end, and drove between two houses, ending up down a creek embankment. McClure fled into the creek. Police called in air support and a search dog from O'Fallon. In the meantime, police set up a perimeter in the area. Eventually air support spotted the man coming out of a culvert where the creek passes under Muegge Road, near the tennis courts in .

The passenger in the car, Victoria Knight, 19, of the 100 block of Vanmark Way in St. Louis, remained in the car and was arrested without incident. She is charged in municipal court with hindering arrest for helping McClure in "his attempted false identification efforts," according to the press release.
