St. Charles Woman Dies After May 29 Assault

The woman's ex-boyfriend was charged with a Feb. 26 domestic assault, and he is a suspect in the May 29 incident.

Linda Cerutti, of St. Charles, died Sunday as a result of injuries from a . She was 50 years old.

Lt. Dave Senter, of , said the May 26 incident still is under investigation. No one has been charged with the attack.

However, police do have a suspect according to court documents.

St. Charles Police said in a report that Cerutti’s ex-boyfriend, Steven Martineau, is a suspect in the May 29 assault.

after police reported that he punched Cerutti twice in the face at their shared home in the 400 block of Tower Grove Place in St. Charles Feb. 26. The police report indicated he punched her because she stayed out until the early morning hours.

The domestic assault charge on the Feb. 26 incident was filed May 31, two days after Cerutti was fatally injured.

Police said in a report that Martineau has prior arrests for domestic assault in Muskegon County, MI, where he is wanted on a probation violation.

Cerutti is survived by two grown children, three grandchildren, two sisters and a brother.

There will be a graveside service at Mount Hope Cemetery at noon Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lydia's House, a shelter for abused women and their children.
