St. Charles Man Charged With Cooking Meth, Growing Marijuana

Police said the man had meth and marijuana operations in his home near downtown St. Charles.

A St. Charles man was charged Monday with making methamphetamine, growing marijuana and possessing meth.

When went to arrest George Wendt III, 42, of the 200 block of Pike Street, on outstanding warrants, detectives said he and his girlfriend ran out the back door and tried to flee in his truck.

According to a report, his girlfriend told police that Wendt is an active meth cook and made a large amount of meth just before being arrested, and that liquid meth and meth ingredients were in their truck. Detectives said they were overwhelmed by chemical odors coming from the truck.

After getting a search warrant for the truck and house, Drug Task Force members found liquid meth and ingredients used in meth in the truck’s cab, lock box and bed, according to the report. Detectives also said they found a marijuana growing operation inside the house.

Bond for Wendt was set at $50,000.
