St. Charles Man Charged With ATV, Other Thefts

Police said the man also stole a tool chest and tools, a power washer and a trailer.

A man faces criminal charges for stealing an all-terrain vehicle and tools from a storage unit and other items from a St. Charles home.

Benjamin Roberts, 33, of the 3300 block of Fleet Lane in , was charged with two counts of felony theft and one count of receiving stolen property.

said Roberts had access to a storage area and entered the area several times between June 4 and June 15, stealing a 2001 Honda TRX 400 ATV valued at $700 and a Craftsmen rolling tool chest with tools valued at $1,700.

Police also said he stole a flatbed trailer valued at $1,000 and a power washer valued at $850 July 21 from a home in the 3300 block of Glendale Avenue in St. Charles.

The items in both thefts were recovered at a home in the 3300 block of Fleet Lane where Roberts had been staying. The homeowner told police Roberts had stored the items in the garage.

Roberts also was captured on a surveillance camera with the trailer in an empty lot on Veterans Memorial Parkway, police reported.

Police also recovered a Polaris ATV valued at $2,500 stored at a home in the first block of Clover Lane. Roberts' relative told police he asked to store the vehicle there.

Bond was set at $20,0000.
