St. Charles K-9 Sniffs Out 40 Pounds of Marijuana Along I-70

St. Charles Police stopped a California man driving an SUV on eastbound Interstate 70 and found about 40 pounds of marijuana inside a rooftop cargo carrier.

Heath Condie, 33, of Campbell, CA and Justin Harris, 28, of Lexington, NC, each were charged May 20 with delivering a controlled substance.

Police said an officer pulled over a 2006 Honda Pilot May 19 on I-70 near Zumbehl Road, and the officer suspected Condie and Harris were involved in some type of illegal activity. They denied a request to search the vehicle, so the officer had a K-9 unit do sniff the outside of the vehicle.

The K-9, Tucker, alerted on the SUV. Police said they found 35 to 40 pounds of high-grade marijuana inside the luggage carrier on top of the vehicle.

Condie owns and was driving the SUV.

Condie posted 10 percent of a $50,000 bond Thursday and was released from St. Charles County jail. Harris posted 10 percent of a $50,000 bond Friday and was released from St. Charles County jail. They both must reside in Missouri while on bond.
