St. Charles Firefighters Pull Woman From Missouri River

Woman jumped from the deck of the Blanchette Bridge on Interstate 70 around 9:30 a.m.

St. Charles Firefighters pulled a woman who jumped from the Blanchette Bridge out of the Missouri River this morning, according to a press release from the St. Charles Fire Department. 

Several people called police to tell them they'd seen a woman standing on the westbound side of the bridge. Police saw her jump in the water just as they arrived. 

The Pattonville Fire District Rescue team, water patrol and a helicopter responded to search for the woman.

The woman was spotted near a barge in the main channel of the river by the responders in the helicopter. Responders pulled her on the rescue board and  paramedics started treating her for advanced stages of hypothermia. 

According to Capt. Dan Casey of the , timing was critical to the rescue as the woman received medical care less than twenty minutes after she jumped.

She was taken by ambulance to for treatment.
