Attempted Kidnapping

St. Charles police are investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping around 8 a.m. Wednesday from . St. Charles Police Lt. Mike Akers said the incident was isolated and is still being investigated. Police have not released more details on the incident.

Flood Victims Robbed

Two box fans were taken from a house in the 3500 block of Elm Street in St. Charles overnight July 10. The victim, whose home had been flooded, reported them missing July 11.

Someone attempted to break into an apartment in the 100 block of Cole Boulevard during the day July 7. The apartment was condemned due to recent flash floods, but someone tried to pry open the door.

Home Robbery

While the owner was on vacation between July 1 and 6, someone broke into her house in the 3600 block of Runnymede Drive and stole a pick up truck, two shotguns, jewelry and two cameras.

Laptop Taken

A laptop was reported missing from a home in the 2900 block of West Adams on July 8. A possible suspect had been staying with the owner, police said.

Woman Assaulted

A man reportedly attacked his mother with a claw hammer after she refused to give him money from his disability check. The incident was reported at 8:30 p.m. July 9 and occurred in the 1900 block of North Fourth Street in St. Charles. The man picked up the hammer hitting the walls and the woman's vehicle with it and then when she tried to stop him, he hit her left arm, police said.

Dog Stolen

A dog was reported missing from a home in the 1600 block of Trails of Sunbrook at 3 p.m. July 8. A possible suspect is a neighbor who may have tried to put the dog up for sale, police said. The dog was returned and the victim had no wish to prosecute the theft.

Money, Cell Phones Taken from pool at Wapelhorst Park

Several people reported that money and cell phones had been taken while they were at Wapelhorst Park on July 9. Most of the items were reported missing between 6 and 6:30 p.m. One person discovered after gathering up their belongings that the items were missing.
