Matthew Lee Perrey, 24, of the 100 block of McDonough in St. Charles, was charged on Dec. 13 with stealing and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

A St. Charles man was arrested after St. Peters Police say the man took sporting goods from Walmart.

Matthew Lee Perrey, 24, of the 100 block of McDonough in St. Charles, was charged on Dec. 13 with stealing and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. The stealing charge is a felony charge because it's Perrey's third stealing related offense since 2010.

St. Peters Police said that on Dec. 12, Perrey took a catcher's mitt and a pair of batting gloves from Walmart. Police said Perrey is an admitted drug user and found him with two used syringes, a tourniquet and burnt bottom of a soda can in his jacket pocket.

Perrey pled guilty to stealing on July 27, 2012, and on Jan. 10, 2011. According to the probable cause statement, Perrey has been convicted of stealing seven times in the past five years.

Bond in the case was set at $25,000, cash only.

Yeah, it saddened us when we realized that someone had discretely made a generous item donation butRead More had left their wallet in the donated gym bag. Our social media director Dawn Thomas was able to locate the teen and "Renew that Treasure " to it's owner. It gave us all such joy!
