Update: Police Seek Suspect in Attempted Robbery of First Capitol Cleaners

Robber fled after the laundromat employee stabbed him with a seam ripper.

Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob the today but was thwarted by an employee who stabbed him with a seam ripper.

According to a press release, the man demanded money after entering the business around 1:11 p.m. and implied he had a weapon that was concealed under his jacket.

He reached for the register, but the employee stabbed him in the hand with the seam ripper, which is a sharp tool used to unpick stitches. He hand may be injured.

The suspect was described by police as a white male who was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gloves. The man concealed his face with a black article of clothing and large sunglasses.

Police responded to the call and searched for the man. Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact at 636-949-3520 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 636-949-3333.

St. Charles police are responding to an armed robbery of a laundromat in the 1000 block of First Capitol Drive. 

St. Charles Police Public Information Officer Lt. Dave Senter said the responding officer arrived a short time ago and spent time in the area looking for the robber.
