Police Reports: Woman Drives Car Through Chain in City Garage

arrested an 18-year-old woman who apparently drove her vehicle through a chain in the city parking garage and got stuck. 

The incident happened around 12:15 a.m. Feb. 23. The woman had apparently parked her car in the garage earlier in the evening, gone out on Main Street and returned, driving through a chain at the bottom of the garage, according to the police reports. The woman was unable to get away and was arrested.

 Assault

  • A 56-year-old woman reported assault at South Fifth Street around midnight Feb. 22.
  • A 21-year-old woman was assaulted on North Main Street around 1 a.m. Feb. 22.
  • A 16-year-old woman was reportedly assaulted on school property at North Kingshighway around 8:15 a.m. Feb. 24.

  • A 21-year-old woman reported her purse was stolen from a vehicle parked on North Main Street between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 21 and 1:30 a.m. Feb. 22.
  • A 44-year-old man reported the rear window of his vehicle was broken while parked at South Second Street in St. Charles between 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Feb. 22.
  • A 22-year-old woman reported her window vehicle was shattered while parked at Monroe Street and North Riverside Drive between 10 p.m. Feb. 22 and 1 a.m. Feb. 23.  Her purse was stolen.
  • A 21-year-old woman reported the rear left side passenger window of her car was shattered and her purse stolen from her car which was parked on North Main Street between 10 p.m. Feb. 22 and 1:05 a.m. Feb. 23.
  •  A laptop was reportedly stolen between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 from a hotel room on South Fifth Street after a clerk assigned the same room to another person.
  • A 45-year-old woman reported a computer was stolen from her home in the 1600 block of Bennett between 12:45 and 11:30 p.m. Feb. 23. The incident was reported Feb. 24.
  • A 58-year-old woman reported a laptop computer and purse containing many items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked at a business in the 700 block of Veterans Memorial Parkway between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Feb. 24.
