Police Reports: Student Out $830 Trying to Get Loan

Also, a copper flow valve for a sprinkler system was cut off the side of a house on Prevot Ave.

A 25-year-old man is out $830 after he sent the money to someone in Ontario, Canada in the hopes of securing a $25,000 student loan through a company in New York.

The man searched online for a good deal on a student loan and contacted the company in New York who told him to send the money to a person in Canada.

The man, who lives on North Overbrook Drive in St. Charles, did so and was unable to make contact with the loan company. He reported the theft on march 6.

Stealing

  • A 71-year-old man reported someone cut the copper flow valve for a sprinkler system off of the side of his house at Prevot Ave. between March 4 and March 6. 
  • A ring valued at $80 was reportedly stolen from a lunchroom table in Lindenwood's cafeteria on March 6. 
  • A trailer located off of Hemsath Drive, a farm vehicle and many tools kept inside were reportedly stolen between 11 p.m. March 5 and 8 a.m. March 6. The property loss was estimated at $14,750.
  • A propane tank was reportedly stolen from a business off of Harry S. Truman Blvd. around 12:30 a.m. March 6. 
  • More than $2,000 in items were stolen from a business on South Main Street between 4:30 p.m. March 2 and 8:30 a.m. March 5. 
  • Police took a shoplifter into custody who was accused of taking cosmetics from on March 4.
  • A woman reported that there were several fraudulent charges on her debit card on March 4.
  • A 63-year-old man reported a GPS was stolen from his vehicle parked at Hawthorne Drive on March 4.
  • Police took a man into custody who refused to pay for taxi service at Fifth Street and Boone's Lick Road around 2 a.m. March 4.

Assault/Sodomy

  • A 29-year-old woman reported a domestic assault in the third degree between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. March 5 in the 2400 block of North Eighth St.
  • Police took a man into custody after investigating a report of domestic assault and forcible sodomy of a 30-year-old woman between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. March 4 at Sherman Square Drive.

Death Investigation

  • Police investigated a death of a 50-year-old man at Maquam Street on March 5.
  • Police investigated a death of a 64-year-old man at Empire Drive on March 5. 

DWI/Drugs

  • Police arrested an eighth grade student at a school on Elm Street who was in possession of drug paraphenalia on March 6.
  • Police took an intoxicated man into protective custody on Veterans Memorial Parkway around 11:30 p.m. March 6.
  • Police arrested a driver who was pulled over for a headlight violation and then was found to be driving while intoxicated around 9:15 p.m. March 3 at Signal Hill Ct. and Elm Street.

Public Urination

  • Police arrested someone who urinated in publica at Clark Street around 11:50 a.m. March 6.
