Police Reports: Shoplifters at Target Take $3,225 in Merchandise

Police also report several recent high dollar stealing cases and burglaries.

Shoplifters at the store on Mexico Road may have stolen an estimated $3,225 in miscellaneous merchandise on March 7.

The thefts were reported to police that day, according to St. Charles police reports. Specific merchandise that was taken was not identified.

And police report several recent stealing and burglary cases resulted in more than $2,000 in items reported stolen in each instance.

Electronic equipment and recordings, purses, handbags and wallets and money totaling more than $2,425 were reportedly stolen from a building on Decatur Street on March 13. Police say the suspects didn’t break into the building.

Jewelry, a video game and cash that amounted to $2,312 was reported stolen in a burglary at a residence on Salem Drive. The burglary happened sometime between March 8 and March 12, according to police.

Someone may have forced their way through the front door and took an engagement ring, an X-Box video game and $262 in a blue purse. The residents were out of town, police say.

 Stealing

  •  A Craftsman Toll set valued at $250 was reported stolen on March 7 from unlocked camper shell attached to a truck bed at Longbow Trace.
  • An estimated $25 in change was reportedly taken from an unlocked motor vehicle at Norwich Drive sometime between March 6 and March 7.
  • An Illinois license plate, worth $50, was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked at San Juan Drive sometime between March 6 and March 7.
  • Three boxes of Girl Scout cookies were reportedly stolen from inside a student’s locker from a building on North Kingshighway on March 7.
  • Six IPOD Touch devices, worth $1,170, were reported stolen on March 8 from the at Veterans Memorial Parkway.
  • A business on Mexico Road reported on March 8 that $240 was stolen by an employee.
  • An estimated $150 in quarters and a $20 bill were reportedly taken from a coin-operated arcade game at Droste Road on March 8.
  • A cement statute of Jesus worth $450 was taken from a side yard by a garden at Bridlespur Lane sometime between March 10 and March 11.

Assault

  • A 61-year-old taxi cab driver was assaulted by a passenger on March 7 at Droste Road and suffered a minor injury.  The passenger was arrested.
  • A police officer was assaulted at Old Highway 94 at Pralle Road on March 7. Police say a subject under the influence of narcotics assaulted the officer while he was being restrained.

Property Damage

  • About 200 to 300 feet of vinyl fencing was spray-painted by an unknown suspect at Convention Center Plaza between March 3 and March 13.

Peace Disturbance

  • An apparently intoxicated 61-year-old man came to on March 7 and demanded that the school release his daughter to him.  Police say he caused a disturbance in the office and was arrested for peace disturbance.

Animal Cruelty

  •  Police also report an animal cruelty case were a raccoon was shot with a bow and arrow by two juveniles in the 1100 block of Olde Saybrook Drive on March 10.
