Police Reports: Man Charged in Bar Fight

St. Charles Police Reports Feb. 25-28. The following arrest information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

arrested a man for pulling a knife during a fight on Feb. 25 that started when the man threw cheese on a patron of a bar on Elm Street. 

William J. Gibbs, of the 500 block of St. Stephens Lane, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and released on $5,000 bond.

According to the probable cause statement, written by Officer D. Gibbons, Gibbs' cheese throwing started a shoving match and verbal disturbance. During the altercation, Gibbs pulled an 8.5-inch knife and stared in "a threatening manner" at the person. He put the knife away and the attempted to leave before police arrived.

  • A homemade soda bottle bomb exploded in the front yard of the 1500 block of Country Bend Drive around 9:45 p.m. Feb. 25.

Protective Custody

  • Police took a highly intoxicated woman into protective custody around 1:35 a.m. Feb. 26 from North Main Street.

Counterfeit Bill

  • A counterfeit $20 bill was reportedly used in the 1000 block of South 5th Street in St. Charles between 10 p.m. Feb. 25 and 5:20 a.m. Feb. 26.

Stealing

  • A wallet was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 500 block of South Main Street  between 1:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Feb. 24.
  • Four people ate four meals at a restaurant on Little Hills Expressway and hten left without paying on Feb. 28 at 12:40 a.m.
  • Gas was stolen from a convenience store on Harry S. Truman Blvd around 11:58 a.m. Feb. 28.
  • A burglary was reported at a business on South Main Street around 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28.
