Police: Man Punches Girlfriend, Steals Her Car

St. Charles Police said the man is on probation for forgery and passing bad checks.

A man faces charges for punching his girlfriend and then stealing her car on Monday in St. Charles.

Derek A. Porter, 42, of the 1000 block of Circle Drive in St. Charles, was charged with stealing a car and third-degree domestic assault.

St. Charles Police said the two argued in her car parked outside their residence, and Porter punched the woman in the mouth and pulled her hair. He then took her car without her permission to get away from officers, police said.

Porter is on probation from the Missouri Department of Corrections for forgery and passing a bad check. He was released from prison Jan. 4, according to court documents.

Bail was set at $10,000, and he is to have no contact with the woman.
