Police: Man Flees, Struggles With Cops, Caught With Drugs

After a traffic stop, the passenger ran after officers asked him to get out of the car, police said.

A Warrenton man faces several criminal charges—including assaulting an officer and resisting arrest—as police said he tried to escape from officers following a traffic stop in .

Jason Stufflebean, 35, of the 700 block of Wabash in Warrenton, was charged Tuesday with possessing methamphetamine, possessing marijuana, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and possessing drug-related items.

said an officer was monitoring traffic when he spotted a car that had active warrants on it. The officer said Stufflebean, a passenger in the car, gave the officer a false name. When asked to get out of the car, police said Stufflebean pushed the officer and began running.

After officers caught him, he continued to struggle and had to be tased, according to the report. Police said he threw away marijuana and coffee filters during the chase and they found a baggie of meth and a used syringe.

Stufflebean is being held at the St. Charles city jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
