Police Chief Dennis Corley Resigns

Resignation follows vote of no confidence from St. Charles Police Association

Chief Dennis Corley resigned from his position to pursue other interests, according to a press release from the city. His last day will be April 15.

An interim Police Chief has not yet been selected, however, Major Ed Mitchell will be in charge of the department. Then the city will conduct a national search for a replacement.

Corley was appointed as police chief by former Mayor Patti York in 2007 after serving for a time as interim chief. He joined the St. Charles police force in 1994, according to an article in the St. Charles Suburban Journals

“We take public safety seriously,” said Mayor Sally Faith in a press release. “This is one of our primary focus areas – a core service of the city,” she said. “I can assure you the St. Charles Police Department will continue to protect and serve the people who live, work and visit our community.”
