Mayor Reviews Association's No-Confidence Vote in Police Chief

Mayor Sally Faith is reviewing a vote of no confidence taken by the St. Charles Police Officer's Association.

Faith released a statement about the issue last week.

“We are aware the St. Charles Police Officers Association has taken a ‘no confidence’ vote, and we’re currently in the process of reviewing the details surrounding this situation. Michael Spurgeon, director of administration, and I have not made any changes in regards to the city’s leadership at this time.  Dennis Corley continues to serve in the capacity of police chief for the city of St. Charles.”

According to an article posted on KMOV, the St. Charles Police Association took a vote of no confidence in Chief Dennis Corley, Major Donovan Kenton and Captain Paul West and outlined about 70 issues.

In a prepared statement, Faith said the city takes the business of providing public safety seriously. 

"This is one of our primary focus areas -- a core service of the city," she said.  "I can assure you that Chief Corley and the St. Charles Police Department continue to protect and serve the people who live, work and visit our community." 

Corley was appointed as police chief by former Mayor Patti York in 2007 after serving for a time as interim chief. He joined the St. Charles police force in 1994, according to an article in the St. Charles Suburban Journals.
