Man Charged with Statutory Rape in Ameristar Parking Lot

Police said the man gave underage girl alcohol and had sexual contact with her in his car.

A Troy man was charged Tuesday with second-degree statutory rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

said that Shaun M. Shroyer, 37, of Troy, had sex with his victim, who was under age 17, in the back seat of his car in the garage April 29.

The police report said that Shroyer was supposed to take care of the girl for the evening, and gave her alcohol and had sexual contact with her.

Shroyer admitted to police that he took the girl from hotel property, bought alcohol and was alone with her. He told police that the girl had a crush on him “and would not leave him alone,” according to the police report.

Shroyer and the juvenile victim's family were once neighbors and have known each other for many years, according to police. St. Charles Police started investigating on May 9 after the incident was reported to police.

Investigators found no other victims to date. Shroyer is being held on $30,000 bond and can have no contact with the victim.

Shroyer previously served three years in prison after pleading guilty to child endangerment in a separate case when he lived in Perryville.

Yeah, it saddened us when we realized that someone had discretely made a generous item donation butRead More had left their wallet in the donated gym bag. Our social media director Dawn Thomas was able to locate the teen and "Renew that Treasure " to it's owner. It gave us all such joy!
