Man Charged With Burglaries in St. Peters, St. Charles

Shannon Zeiss already has pending charges for a St. Peters burglary in May.

A man is accused of burglaries in St. Peters and St. Charles, along with stealing a car in the city of St. Louis.

Shannon Zeiss, 33, formerly of St. Peters, was charged Monday with first-degree burglary and tampering with a vehicle in a St. Charles burglary. He also was charged July 10 with second-degree burglary and felony theft for a St. Peters burglary.

He also has pending charges related to a May 3 burglary in St. Peters.

St. Charles Police said Zeiss burglarized a home July 9 in the 3300 block of Cottonwood in St. Charles while residents were home. He entered through an unlocked door and took a laptop computer and $22 in cash.

St. Charles Police said he was later seen driving a stolen vehicle on the Dierberg’s lot on Zumbehl Road. The car was stolen from a home he burglarized in the city of St. Louis, police said.

St. Peters Police said Zeiss was a lookout for burglaries on Jan. 11 and Jan. 20 in the 700 block of Highland Hill Court. Police said Zeiss, who lived in an apartment across the hall, watched for the resident and responding police as two others entered the apartment and stole electronics, silverware, jewelry and cash. The items were valued at $1,750.

Police said Zeiss helped load the stolen items in a truck and took them to downtown St. Louis to a man’s house “where lots of stolen property” was located.

Officers said Zeiss has no permanent address, and is addicted to oxycontin.

Zeiss is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
