Man Beat Victim With Beer Bottle, Requiring Staples to Close Wounds, Police Say

St. Charles Police said the victim also suffered two black eyes in the April 29 attack.

A man is charged with beating another man with a beer bottle, requiring the victim to get stitches in his face and staples in his head to close several gashes.

Daniel Neal, 21, of the 200 block of Northridge in Gerald, was charged Tuesday with second-degree assault and armed criminal action.

St. Charles Police said Neal hit the man repeatedly in the head and face with the glass beer bottle April 29 at a home in the 1100 block of North Third Street in St. Charles.

In addition to the severe cuts, the victim had two black eyes, police said.

Police said they interviewed Neal Tuesday, and he denied being present during the assault, but acknowledged being familiar with the victim.

Police said the victim identified Neal as his attacker.

“He has a history of violent assaults,” police wrote in a court document.

Neal is being held by St. Charles County Corrections. Bail was set at $15,000, cash only. He is to have no contact with the victim.
