Drinking Buddy Steals Items After St. Charles Resident Falls Asleep, Police Say

Davie Lee Pearson was charged with felony theft.

A man brought home a new acquaintance after a night of drinking on Main Street in St. Charles. When he awoke, his television, laptop, PlayStation 3 and other items were gone. So was his drinking buddy.

Davie Lee Pearson, 22, of the 4200 block of Shreve Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Saturday with felony theft.

St. Charles police said Pearson met a St. Charles resident during a night of drinking on Main Street July 23. Pearson went to the man’s residence in the 700 block of North Second Street with a group of people who were drinking with the victim that night.

Police said in the early morning hours July24 while the resident slept, Pearson stole several items and left before he awoke.

Police said an investigation revealed Pearson sold the items at pawnshops about five hours after the thefts were discovered and reported.

The victim identified Pearson and video surveillance at the pawnshops shows Pearson selling the items. He told police he sold the laptop to a person whom he knows.

Pearson is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $15,000.
