DNA Matches Man to 2012 ATM Robbery in St. Charles, Police Say

St. Charles Police said Jordan Rigdon grabbed cash from a woman's hands at an ATM, but left behind some evidence.

Police said a DNA sample from a robbery at an ATM helped match a St. Charles man to the crime.

St. Charles Police said a man grabbed cash from a woman’s hand after she withdrew cash from an ATM outside . The woman was sitting in her car when the man grabbed the cash and they struggled briefly.

The woman told police she lost a bracelet inside her car during the struggle. Police seized the bracelet and submitted a swab to the crime lab. Police said a DNA sample matched Jordan Rigdon, 22, whose last known address is in the first block of Stephanie Lane in St. Charles.

Police said Rigdon also fits the description given by the woman.

Rigdon was charged March 8 with second-degree robbery. He denied involvement in the robbery, but Rigdon could not explain how his DNA came to be on the bracelet, police said.

Rigdon is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $20,000, cash only.

He is on probation after pleading guilty July 20 to fraudulent use of a credit card.
