CPD: Winfield Park Man Arrested for Possession Near Raritan Rd.

The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Last Sunday, Cranford Police stopped a 22-year-old Winfield man who was driving with a broken taillight and reportedly found marijuana.

Zachary Meade, who was driving a white 2000 Ford was arrested near Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue around 12:45a.m. on Jan. 6, according to a police report.

Cranford Police Officer Spencer Durkin made the arrest after allegedly finding marijuana in the vehicle, he said in his report, and booked Meade on charges of possession of less than 50g of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Meade was processed and released.

Law enforcement needs to re-direct its focus on crime...to those that are REAL crimes. I was in Federal Prison for 5 years for a marijuana offense. No, it was not for simple possession. I was arrested aboard a Lockheed PV2 in Marianna, Florida...charged and convicted for conspiracy to import and distribute 12,000 pounds of marijuana. As my years in prison rolled by, what I did see were armed bank robbers, coming and going...while I still sat there for marijuana. Most of the bank robbers only spent 17 to 24 months. But, I and my fellow 'drug offenders,'...we stayed for YEARS. I wrote about the escapades that led to my incarceration. I admit, I had a great time. No one was injured, no one was killed, firearms were not involved...there were no victims. We were Americans...doing what Americans do best...living free. Truly, it is time for this lunacy to end...it never should have begun. The book: Shoulda Robbed a Bank I would be honored by your review.

This lunacy has gone on long enough. The marijuana prohibition laws should never have been passed. 'Our' representatives need to re-visit the fourth grade in American public schools. Somehow, they missed the concept of 'freedom.

6 TONS!? lol
FlyingTooLow January 21, 2013 at 04:09 PM
@Jim... In that era, the DEA estimated that 40 tons per day were being consumed in the US. My 6 tons was a measly 3 1/2 hour supply. What kind of contribution was that to Party Central, USA? I wasn't committing a crime...I was performing a public service. That was my attitude THEN. I have since mended my lowdown ways...but, not my beliefs. I wish you the very best, Hugh Yonn
