Accused Cop Killer from O'Fallon to Stand Trial in St. Charles
Deonta Williamson ended a high-speed chase that began in O'Fallon by ramming a Carutherville police car with a stolen Cadillac Escalade, which killed a police officer.
An O'Fallon man, accused of killing a southeast Missouri police officer, will stand trial in St. Charles, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
According to KSDK, Deonta Williamson, 30, was fleeing police in August 2011 when he slammed a stolen Cadillac Escalade from his parents O'Fallon home into two patrol cars positioned to stop him. Carutherville Officer Evan Burns wasn't able to get out of the patrol car and was killed in the accident.
Williamson was granted a move to St. Charles County after a Tuesday hearing before Judge Fred Copeland in Pemiscot County.

The family of Williamson said he suffers from mental illness, according to KFVS. But Williamson’s mental exam, KZIM reports, showed competency and his next court date in St. Charles is pending.
Williamson faces murder charges, along with assault and armed criminal action charges, KSDK reports.
