O'Fallon Flocks to Backyard Bird Count

Residents participated in a four day national event by counting birds in Fort Zumwalt Park.

The Great Backyard Bird Count held at  on Feb. 18- 21, was part of an annual four-day national event. Counts gathered from bird watchers all over the United States and Canada will be combined to give a real-time snapshot of where birds make their homes across the continent.

The free event in O'Fallon included a St. Louis Audubon Society exhibit and children's activities, along with bird watching and counting. According to Marsha Seymour, manager of O'Fallon Tourism and Festivals, the info on the bird count hasn't been totaled,  but more than two dozen species were seen during the four-day event.

You can see results and learn more about the national event at  www.birdsource.org/gbbc.

Hi Rebekah, Thanks. That makes sense because I quite often hear a Mockingbird outside my window. Cathy
