Friends, Community Remember Robert "Bob" Scott

Scott served on the Festival of the Little Hills board, was a former city councilman and volunteered with many other civic organizations.

Friends and community members honored Bob Scott, a longtime member of the Festival of the Little Hills Board and many other civic organizations in St. Charles.

Scott died after a short illness Aug. 26 at age 89. A memorial and funeral service were held Thursday.

Bob was married to his wife, Clara Scott, for 67 years. He's survived by three children, six granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
Bob is remembered by friends and family for his volunteer efforts.
He served as a city councilman from 1987-1991, and on numerous other civic boards including the St. Charles Board of Adjustment and the Festival of the Little Hills Board.

Linda Jackson-Regot worked alongside Bob for years on the Festival of the Little Hills. She said she took a break this year and is sad she missed Bob's last year at the Festival.

"He's a fantastic person," she said. "A straight shooter. He'll tell you how it is. If you didn't like it, you didn't like it. He gave so much of his life to the community and the people around it."

Diane Hawn has lived next to the Scott's for years. She said she loves St. Charles and the community but her love for the area is small compared to Bob and Clara Scott's.

"They are the real St. Charles," he said. "They are the people who have been here for years and years and years and supported this community and churches and schools. They made a difference in every organization they were in."

Jerry Prinster was in the St. Charles Optimist Club with Bob. He said Bob was always willing to pitch in and help out, from working at the barbecue fundraisers to coordinating Optimist Club's booth at the Festival of the Little Hills.

Bob was even at the Festival this year, despite being in poor health, Prinster said.

"He rode around in a cart and checked on booths," Prinster said. "When he made a commitment, he lived up to it 100 percent. He'll be sorely missed."
