Former St. Charles Fire Chief Dies

Ed Underwood was fire chief in St. Charles from 1971-1999.

Ed Underwood, who served as fire chief for for 28 years, died July 9 at age 68. He served as fire chief for St. Charles from 1971-1999. 

He's past president and a retired member of the Greater St. Louis Area Fire Chief Association, member of the St. Charles Parks and Recreation Board and member of the St. Charles Jaycees and Optimist International, according to his obituary posted on the Baue Funeral website

He's survived by his wife Gloria Underwood, his children and step-children, 13 grandchildren, other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. July 14 at A memorial mass will follow at 10 a.m.
