A Restaurant, truly Her Own

We have had the pleasure of dinning at Lady Di's restaurant for breakfast several times and thought it necessary to share this neighborhood gem with the rest of the world. Driving down Kingshighway in St.Charles you may have passed by what could be mistaken for a used car lot but look again and discover the wonder that is Lady Di's.  Lady Di's is a classic American diner, from the decor to food Lady Di's says diner.  The food is hot, the coffee strong and the staff friendly.  Walking into Lady Di's you’re instantly welcomed by one of the few waitress whizzing by and hit with the scent of bacon and coffee.
Lady Di's has been in business for eighteen years and still going strong.  Diane Sago is the owner, hence the name, but she is so much more than that.  On the many occasions we've dined there she was our server, this time she was in the kitchen working the line on a busy Sunday.  She chats with her regulars and makes all the newbies to her place feel like they've just come home.  Tony Vitale has been working by her side since she opened her doors.  Tony jokes and says he works for food and if he does a good job he'll get biscuits and gravy.  Vitale describes the feeling of Di's to be similar to Cheers, everyone knows your name, and are always glad you came. Lady Di's is truly a St. Charles intuition, and a restaurant Sago should be proud of!

HE SAYS; I have never had a bad dish here! Everything from bacon and eggs to a hearty chicken fried steak for breakfast. A must try and my personal favorite is the slinger; Two sausage patties, two fried eggs, served on a bed of hash browns, smothered in house chili! What more can a guy ask for?! Great food a very reasonable price. Perfect for family brunch, a breakfast for two, or for a little comfort food after a long night. Whatever your reason to go out, try this place. Only drawback for me, they offer an indoor smoking section.

SHE SAYS:I can't seem to order more than just a few things because I love them so much.  The country fried steak and eggs are perfect, crispy, seasoned perfectly and the milk gravy on top sits like snow on a mountain.  The Tornado is enough food for a family of four, it boasts eggs, hash browns, cheese and your choice of meat (I had sausage) all scrambled together and served with toast and pancakes.  I had to top mine with the sausage gravy and it was even better.  They recently add a Paleo Diet menu but " when in Rome".
