Why I Love Yoga

Yoga relaxes and rejuvenates...you can't help but love it!

Yoga Love

Yoga has a way of both relaxing and rejuvenating me after a hard week. There are so many things about yoga that I love. It is great how the instructor darkens the room in the class. The yoga room allows the perfect amount of darkness for relaxation, but has enough light to be kept alert.

I also love how we are encouraged to close our eyes and concentrate on our breathing during a class. The concentration on breathing helps me to forget anything else that I may have been worrying about that day. It is so wonderful to get to the point where you really are only thinking about breath instead of the hundreds of other thoughts always floating through your head.

Then there are the actual exercises. While I do enjoy an occasional hard cardio or weight workout, I often leave feeling tired. Yoga exercises have a way of challenging me, without exhausting me. It allows me to target specific muscles and concentrate on ways that I can improve my flexibility and strength.

 Try it out!

If you haven't tried yoga before, try it out! St. Charles has tons of great gyms that offer yoga lessons. If you don't feel comfortable in a class setting, try a DVD. With a DVD you can get all of the benefits of yoga in the comfort of your own home. Just be sure that you have a place where you have plenty of room to move freely.
