Staying Healthy During Finals

Finals week can be stressful...don't let it effect your health!

Stress

Finals can be stressful. This stress can lead to poor health. However, properly taking care of your body can make finals week a walk in the park.

Obviously, you should try not to procrastinate studying. This can lead to anxiety which may cause lack of sleep and appetite. Not to mention that fact that you retain knowledge better when you don't cram it in the night before!

Zzzzzz

Since you have been studying in advance, you should have no reason to pull an all-nighter. You body thinks best when it is well rested. Falling asleep during the exam will certainly not improve your grade!

That being said, avoid caffeine binges. It still baffles me why college students do not realise that six cups of coffee at 11 p.m will keep them up all night. Coffee binges in the morning are not good either. If you need a cup to wake you up that's fine. Just keep it to one cup. If you are all hyped up on caffeine you may become shakey and easily distracted. This can also increase any anxiety that you were already having about the exam.

Ditch The Chips

Comfort food becomes incredibly popular during finals week. Chowing down on chips and donuts may give you some instant gratification, but it will just slow you down later on in the day. Your body needs protein and vitamins to be functioning at your best.

So take care of your body this finals week! You'll be glad you did and it might even improve that GPA of yours.
