Duchesne Students Provide Gifts for 28 Families

School does an annual Adopt-a-Family project each Christmas season.

students and faculty brought the spirit of Christmas to people in need through the school’s annual Adopt-a-Family project.

During the weeks of Advent, student homerooms and organizations collected Christmas gifts, holiday meal ingredients and household necessities for 28 local families through the Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service. The gifts were blessed at Duchesne’s Advent Mass on Dec. 19, before being delivered to each recipient family.  This year marked Duchesne’s 27th consecutive year of participation in the Adopt-a-Family program.

In his homily, Duchesne Campus Minister Father Jim Gahan reminded students about the importance of sharing our gifts with those in our community.

“Today, we’re willingly stepping into other people’s lives, to bring a little bit of good news to those who so desperately need it,” Gahan said.

Throughout the project, student volunteer coordinators were responsible for contacting each adopted family, collecting monetary and item donations, and making sure the list of needs for each family was fulfilled.  The student coordinators also delivered the gifts in person after Mass.
