Lindenwood University Launches Community Service Website

St. Charles, Mo. – The Lindenwood University Department of Nonprofit Administration has launched a new Community Service portion of the www.lindenwood.edu website dedicated to helping students connect with volunteer opportunities within the community.
Representatives from regional organizations and civic groups can visit the site to complete information forms and request scheduled events be posted to a comprehensive service calendar. Opportunities can be listed for one specific group or for the entire Lindenwood student community. Local charitable organizations can also upload details regarding short or long-term volunteer placements.
Lindenwood students can visit the site to complete a volunteer information form and to search the calendar for service opportunities, either by the clients the organization serves (animals, seniors, youths, etc.) or by the distance the event is located from the campus in St. Charles, Mo.
“The site is designed to help our valuable public service partners connect to the talents and time of our Lindenwood student body,” said Julie Turner, PhD, assistant professor and department chair of nonprofit administration. “These opportunities not only assist our students in connecting their community service experiences to academic study, but also provide them with experiences that help them grow into effective civic leaders.”
The site can be accessed at www.lindenwood.edu/communityservice. For more information, contact Turner at 636-949-4652 or jturner@lindenwood.edu.
Lindenwood University, founded in 1827, is an independent liberal arts university offering more than 120 graduate and undergraduate programs in diverse areas of study in traditional and accelerated formats.
