Volunteering Makes You Feel Good

Church of the Shepherd is attempting to provide 608 hours of volunteer services during one week.

Today I had the privilege to do service work while part of Church of Shepherd 608 hours of volunteer service in one week.

I chose to volunteer at the Five Acres Animal Adoption Center.  There, along  with Mike Dale, Steve Teague and Justin Hanna, 608 COS volunteers we assisted staff in the daily tasks associated with animal shelters.

Yes, animals who have been abondoned, abused or have special needs are still Gods' creatures and need our help.  Five Acres has a beautiful facility to house temporarily dogs and cats who need caring homes and does not euthanize any animal unless for medical reasons.

Our tasks were not glorious- cleaning dog kennels and washing feeding and water bowls.  The four of us also were able to walk the dogs in their daily exercise periods as well as play with the animals.

It was indeed a truly inspiring three hours knowing that we could help make the lives better for these animals.  Five Acres is always needing volunteers, donation of pet items and funding to carry out their programs for adoption. We all left with a smile knowing we were a part of community volunteer services as part of the Church of the Shepherd 608 hours project.
