BBB Alert: Showtime Limousines Left Customers Without A Ride

The BBB is warning consumers about problems reported by customers of Showtime Limousines of St. Charles.

For many people these days, hiring a limousine is a key part of a celebration, whether it's a wedding, bachelorette party or a birthday outing. The trend probably keeps quite a few drunk drivers off the road.

When a limousine fails to show up for the party, a host or hostess can be understandably upset. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today about Showtime Limousines, based in St. Charles, Mo. Customers have filed numerous complaints about the company failing to show up at appointed times or notifying them that the company would be unable to fulfill a contract on short notice.

The BBB urges consumers to check companies out before hiring them by searching for a BBB Business Review on our website. In Showtime's case, consumers could see that the company has an F rating with the BBB, the lowest possible.

Before you hire a transportation service, the BBB has five tips that can help you determine a company's reliability:

  1. If possible, visit the garage or lot where the limousines are stored to inspect them closely for any potential issues.
  2. Meet on location with a company representative. Be wary of any limousine business that does not have an office.
  3. Ask for proof of insurance and vehicle registration.
  4. Make sure you get a contract and read it carefully before signing. Ask what will happen if either you or the company cancels the contract.
  5. Check the company’s BBB Business Review at www.bbb.org or by calling 314-645-3300.
