The Foundry Art Centre announces the Regional
Competition for Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest. The competition,
presented in partnership with the Missouri Arts Council, the National Endowment
for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that
encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through
memorization, performance, and competition.
On February 19, 2014 at 10:00am, students
from area high schools will participate in the Poetry Out Loud Regional
Competition at the Foundry Art Centre. The winner of this competition will
advance to the State Poetry Out Loud contest in Jefferson City. The Missouri
champion will advance to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals on April 28-30,
2014 in Washington, DC, where $50,000 in awards and schools prizes will be
distributed.

to attend to hear these talented youths bring classic poetry to life. For
