  • Hotshots, a popular St. Charles sports bar, was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning. No one was injured in the fire, which started around 3 a.m. in the bar in Country Club Place.

Armed Steak 'n Shake Robbers Ram Cop Car Trying to Escape Police

  • St. Charles Police have arrested two 18-year-old men in connection with an armed robbery of Steak 'n Shake on First Capitol Drive early Wednesday morning. According to a release from police, the two men entered Steak 'n Shake and displayed a handgun while demanding money at around 4 a.m. this morning. An employee gave the pair money before they ran off through the rear exit. 

St. Charles Voters Pass $3.8 Million Bond for Parking Garage Repairs

  • A St. Charles city parking garage located on Second Street under St. Charles City Hall will get some repairs following Tuesday's results in the municipal election. It took a second appearance on the ballot to get the funds, but voters passed Proposition R 3,738 (66.22 percent) to 1,873 (33.38 percent). The yes vote gives the city $3.8 million in general obligation bonds.

Incumbents Sweep in St. Charles City Council Election

  • The three incumbent city council members up for reelection all got the nod from voters on Tuesday and reclaimed seats on the St. Charles City Council. One won by the slimmest of margins. Jerry Reese (Ward 6), Rod Herrmann (Ward 8) and Bridget Ohmes (Ward 10) were all reelected to their respective seats—Ohmes won her race by just four votes over Bryce Steinhoff. 

  • St. Charles School Board incumbent Donna Towers has been re-elected for another three-year term. This will be Towers' fourth term on the board. Incumbent Mike Throne, however, has lost his seat on the school board to newcomer Marita Malone. The Francis Howell Board of Education will have two familiar faces for the next meeting. Tuesday's municipal election saw voters living in the Francis Howell District deciding between four people vying for two seats. In the end, voters chose the two incumbents. Amy McEvoy (4,127 votes, 36.82 percent) and Cynthia Bice (3,391 votes, 30.26 percent) defeated to Tony Yakich (1,837 votes, 16.39 percent) and Robert Faltisek (1,788 votes, 15.95 percent) to stay on the board.
