St. Louis Alderman Killed in Crash on Highway 370

Alderman Gregory Carter was driving a UPS truck at the time of the crash.

A St. Louis Alderman was killed in an crash around 12:35 a.m. Wednesday on Eastbound Highway 370 near Elm Street in St. Charles.

Alderman Gregory J. Carter, 54, worked for UPS since 1984, according to an article on KSDK. His tractor trailer was one of several involved in the crash. He represented the 27th ward. 

Carter was driving a tractor-trailer which hit the back of another one that had slowed as it approached a crash on the side of the road between a pickup truck and a tractor trailer.

The driver of the pick up truck was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. 

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay posted a tweet expressing his condolences and said he planned to ask public buildings to lower city flags to half-staff.
