St. Charles News and Notes: Sally Faith Hands Out Employer of the Year Award
Also, St. Charles School District's preschool programs were recognized for achieving accreditation and the SCC Rhythm and Ribs festival doubles number of ribs vendors.
St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith handed out the 2012 Employer of the Year awards to area business leaders during the May 1 Greater St. Charles County Luncheon.
Bob Wamhoff, owner of Wamhoff Financial Planning and Accounting Services was given the Service Award. Scott Westerman, of Glazer's Distributors of Missouri, was given the Manufacturer/Industrial Award. Scott Newcomer, of , was given the Retail Award.
Jim Thro, owner of Jim Thro's Auto Repair, was given the Jack Heck Award, in honor of the late Jack Heck. This award recognizes businesses that demonstrate the spirit of community outreach and family values.

Four Honored by Athena Leadership Foundation
- The Athena Leadership board will honor several local people May 2 at the 2012 Athena Summit and Awards Luncheon. Jill Skyles, Vice President at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Health Center was the 2012 Athena Leadership Recipient. Kasey McKee, with the Foundation, Kristin Williams, with the Foundation, and Gretchen Jameson, owner of purePR, are the young professionals who will be honored.
St. Charles School District Preschool Program Recognized

- The s six preschools received accreditation and were recognized through Missouri Accreditation for Programs for Children and Youth. The certificate is given to programs that offer experiences that help children flourish intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. Last week, the district was presented with a certificate recognizing the achievements.

Healthy Kids Day Celebrates Youth
- The St. Charles County YMCA held a Healthy Kids Day April 28. Families were invited to enjoy a day of facepainting, games, family zumba and summer camp registration. The goal was to provide ways for families to engage together. .
Rhythm and Ribs Fundraiser Doubles in Size
- St. Charles Community College will host a Rhythm and Ribs fundraiserfrom 6-10 p.m. May 18. Expect to hear performances from Smash Band, and Jazz Ensemble. Vendors include Bandana's Bar-B-Q, Stumpy's House of Bar-B-Que and Catering, Ethyl's Smokehouse and Saloon, Mannino's Market, Chick-Fil-A, MO Kettle Corn, Quintessential Catering, Krey Distributing, O'Fallon Brewery, Terra Firma USA, Red Robin.
