St. Charles Memorial Day Event Features Roll Call of Year's Departed Veterans

Memorial Day observances are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, May 27.

St. Charles' City-County Memorial Day Commemoration on Monday, May 27 will feature a roll call of veterans who have passed away during the past calendar year.

The event, scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bishop's Landing (off Riverside Drive adjacent to the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center), will also feature patriotic music from the St. Charles Municipal Band and remarks by County Executive Steve Ehlmann and Michael Spurgeon, Director of Administration for the City of St. Charles.

The Korean War Veterans Association and the St. Charles Police-Fire Guard of Honor will lay a wreath on the Missouri River. The program will conclude with a rifle salute by American Legion Post 312’s Guard of Honor.

Tom Kuypers, Veterans of Foreign Wars-Post 2866, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Paul Jones, VFW Post 2866, will serve as Officer of the Day.

In the event of inclement weather, the 2013 Memorial Day program will be held at American Legion Post 312 located at 2500 Raymond Drive in St. Charles.
