Seven Festivals to Check Out On Memorial Day Weekend
There's plenty happening in St. Louis over Memorial Day Weekend 2012.
- Annual Irish Festival, , St. Charles May 25-27. Annual festival celebrating Irish culture will feature Irish music, Irish food and Irish set dancing. Festival runs 6 to 10:30 p.m. Friday night, Saturday 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- 2012 St. Louis Renaissance Faire, Rotary Park, Wentzville, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 25-28, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $14.95 for adults, $7.95 for children 6-13. Travel back to Petit Lyon in the 16th century and be entertained by swordfighting, juggling, villagers and pirates.
- Bluesweek Festival 2012, Soldiers Memorial, 12th and Market, St. Louis, May 25-27. Musical performances run from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Cost is free, and all ages are welcome.
- Greekfest celebrates Greek culture, food, dance and music at in Town and Country. The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
- Missouri Botanical Gardens Lantern Festival Opening Weekend runs from May 26-28 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Cost is $22 for adults, $10 for children ages 3-12. Event features elaborate, illuminated works of art from China. The striking sets, crafted primarily of colorful silks and molded steel, showcase Chinese culture, traditions and symbolism through displays lit for evening viewing.
- is a community carnival organized by volunteers in University City. The fair kicks off Saturday from 5-9 p.m. Food, rides and games will be available. Heather Dawn will perform at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
- 40th Annual Gypsy Caravan: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 28 on the campus of the University of Missouri St. Louis. Cost is $20 from 7 am. to 9 a.m. and $10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is one of the largest flea markets in the midwest.
