One Lane Closed in Each Direction Saturday on I-70 over Bridge

Blanchette Bridge Lane closures scheduled Saturday.

One lane on westbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday for maintenance work, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Then, a lane on eastbound Interstate 70 will occur from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday. Motorists are advised to avoid eastbound and westbound I-70 and use Route 370 or Route 364 as alternate Missouri River crossings. The additional lane reduction will leave only two lanes open for westbound and eastbound I-70.

Both directions of I-70 are already reduced from five lanes in each direction down to three lanes in each direction and all traffic is using the eastbound bridge.

Crews are completing a major rehabilitation project on the 1958 westbound Blanchette Bridge. The westbound bridge closed in early November and scheduled to be complete in fall 2013.
