New Business Opens on Main Street

Lillians has a ribbon cutting scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m.

Sisters-in-law Beth Mohr, of Shrewsbery and Lynn Frazier, of unincorporated St. Charles County, opened Lillians of St. Charles, a clothing and jewelry boutique in downtown St. Charles this summer.

Lillians is a national franchise with shops in nine states. The store sells women's clothing, purses and accessories. The shop in St. Charles is the second to open in Missouri; the first is located in Kirkwood.

On Thursday, the store is holding a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. and unveiling a new sign.

Frazier said she was laid off from a job in corporate human relations and looking for other job opportunities. Soon after, Mohr approached her about possibly opening up a Lillians boutique. The pair visited the Lillians headquarters in Minnesota last September and knew it was something they'd like to do.

By January, they were searching for a space in downtown St. Charles in which to open the shop. They found a space at 112 South Main Street, Suite 1F, and were able to open in June.

Frazier classifies the store as an "occasional shop," which means it's not open during the traditional 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Instead, the store is open each weekend during the summer and other days when there are events happening on Main Street. The shop is able to get new shipments of clothing often so when people come in, they will nearly always see new items.
